Chem chapter 3, page 56

Is this reaction supposed to be balanced? I wasn't sure since this chapter placed a lot of emphasis on balancing reactions and then this one was not?

Hi jpetrera,

Excellent point. The "2" in front of O2 should be deleted. We will be sure to fix that in the next edition.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Hi! The equation is still not balanced when you remove the 2 from in front of 02.
Can someone please advise? I am not getting the same answer as the book because balancing the equation is important for the stoichiometric ratio.
Thank you!

The balanced equation is 2 H2O yields 2H2 plus O2. The 2 wasn’t supposed to be removed, it was just supposed to be switched from the Oxygen to the Hydrogen.
