Biology Qbank 8: number 14

Why isn't 'III. Ccnd1' one of the transcription factors tested that appears to be necessary to MSC differentiation? Because in Figure two it DOES show a decrease in bglap 2.

There is a decrease in bglap2, you are right about that, but the fact that a significant amount remains is an indication that the transcription factor Ccnd1 isn't necessary for differentiation. The ones that are necessary, when they're removed, drop the amount of bglap2 all the way to zero. In other words, while Ccnd1 does promote differentiation, differentiation can still happen without it.
