A student asked us: "Paragraph 1 says: "the core definition of knowledge... would seem to be without question". this seems like knowledge would be the most widely agreed upon."

The author does say that the core definition would "seem" to be without question, but then goes on to describe all the ways in which knowledge is actually a highly contentious and debated subject (which is the main idea of the passage).
