Can you explain IDL, LDL, and HDL. Im really confused on the lipid components and why the composition is the way it is.

what goes to and from the liver?

Are you using the Next Step content review books? If so, there's a great section in the biochemistry book about lipoproteins starting on page 197. I'll summarize:

Chylomicrons and VLDL primarily transport trigylcerides to tissue, LDL transports cholesterol to tissues, and HDL transports cholesterol and other lipids back to the liver, where it can be processed.
