Is ther a mistake on page 157- biochem book.
From my understanding is, fructose 2,6 bisphosphae is just a regualtory step between the 3rd adn 4th step of glycoslysis, right, and is allostericaly inactivated by glucagon, is that right?

Hi MCAT_Retaker,

This is a common source of confusion over Fructose 2,6-bisphosphate. This molecule regulates both PFK-1 and fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase. The effect is the upregulation of glycolysis and the downregulation of gluconeogenesis. Further, Glucagon will allosterically regulate the enzyme that makes/breaks down fructose 2,6-bisphophate and the result is an increase in its breakdown and decrease in its formation.

Hope that helps!
