A flashbulb memory is a highly detailed, specific memory strongly implanted on the mind, often a result of heightened arousal during the memory. A flashback refers to the cognitive process of reliving or reexperiencing a memory, particularly when that process is undesirable or involuntary (such as someone with PTSD flashing back to a traumatic experience).
