AAMC FL 3 PS Q4

Would you be able to explain a little better why D is a better answer choice than C ? I understood the part where two brain regions would control two actions that are not related to each other as proposed by Paragraph one. But I don't see what makes D a better answer choice.

Answer C does not circle back to the hypothesis presented at all: The researchers are not interested in language skills, only perspective taking and empathy.

Answer D suggests that empathy can be impaired without perspective taking suffering similarly, which would confirm the researcher's hypothesis that perspective taking and empathy are two separate skills.

I can't stress this enough:
A lot of tough-seeming questions are cracked entirely by reading the stem very carefully. The room for overthinking tends to shrink dramatically by even reading the question twice and checking what exactly is meant by "the researcher's hypothesis". This holds true for absolutely all sections!
