Gluconeogenesis Content Review Video

Postby Lionroar » Sat Dec 30, 2017 10:38 pm

I just wanted to double-check, but I feel that the gluconeogenesis video has a mistake: Clara in the very last slide says that gluconeogenesis is stimulated by high AMP and inhibited by high ATP. It sounded strange to me, because those are the conditions that regulate the reverse of gluconeogensis, namely, glycolysis - it is stimulated by high AMP and low ATP. When I looked it up in the NS Biology CR book, I saw on page 356 that the fourth paragraph from the top begins: "FBPase-1 (which I assume is the gluconeogenic enzyme that converts fructose 1,6-bisphosphate into fructose 6 phosphate) is inhibited by AMP...Conversely, FBPase-1 is activated when ATP levels are high." Just wanted to clarify this, thank you very much.

Hi Lionroar,

You're absolutely correct. Thanks for pointing that out. We'll fix this shortly!
