Lesson 1: Interpreting Scientific figures Error?

Postby MCATstudent01 » Tue Feb 21, 2017 9:45 pm

I think when talking about the table the tutor said column 2 was the control but the explanation for why that was referred to column 5. Can someone please look at this for me?

Hey MCATstudent1,
You are absolutely correct. I spoke with Bryan and he clarified that he meant the second column of the second table(which is labeled 5). We will be re-recording that lesson soon. Thanks for pointing that out though!

Hello,

I was wondering the same thing!

I know that column 2 was specified as the control group (and it was the one referred to specifically with # of MIB1 cells 142+/-5.7) but column 1 and column 2 both have the exact same factors present or absent. Is this an error then? Column 2 should only have "injury" present and the other two (anti-monocyte antibody and TGFB agonist) absent?

Column 5 was also referred to as a control in the 2nd table, but there should be a control in each table, correct?

Thank you,
Lindsay

Hi umbristo,

Thanks for catching that. There is indeed an error there. The second column on the right, which you are referring to, should go + - -. You can see the correct version of the table in our MCAT diagnostic exam (Bio and Biochemical Foundations, Passage 1), and we'll be fixing the slide shortly.

Kindly make an announcement for the video to indicate this issue. The very first video explanation and I almost thought I was too stupid to understand
