CR Physics and Math Chapter 8

Post by Lionroar » Wed Oct 18, 2017 12:03 pm

In CR Physics and Math Chapter 8, question 21, was there a mistake in the answer in the back? It answers by first calculating the area of pipe at B, but aren't we trying to figure out the velocity at point A? It should just be:
velocity at A = (flow rate) / (pi * (radius at A)^2)
radius is then converted from cm to m:
velocity at A = 0.06/(pi*0.06^2) = 5.3 m/s
Am I missing something?

Hi Lionroar,

Thanks for the question! Yes, I think you're right on this, that the question is phrased in terms of A but the explanation is about B. We'll make a note of this for future editions.
