Full-length#4 Bio/biochem #52

Post by jkwdo12 » Sun Jul 01, 2018 3:07 pm

For this question, we are looking for the final product of mRNA under the condition in which no alternative slicing occurs. Because alternative splicing basically removes introns from the transcript, shouldn't we have to add the base numbers for introns since we are assuming that alternative splicing is not occurring here?

Thank you:) :D

Alternative splicing and splicing aren’t equivalent terms. “No alternative splicing” doesn’t mean that no splicing occurs, it only means that no exons were removed or rearranged.

Hopefully that helps!
