Re: Questions on the PCAT

Hi simsimjoey, Integration by parts is simply the reverse of the product rule for differentiation, which is covered in Chapter 32. Integration by parts is a low-yield topic that is unlikely to be tested on the PCAT. You can find all the topics that are tested on the PCAT here: http://pcatweb.info/d...

Questions on the PCAT

Hi, got two questions. 1. Calc section on review book does not cover integration by parts, yet there is a question on that. Should we be ready to solve integration by parts questions as well? Maybe also substitution rules for derivatives? 2. Aren't polyribosome (polysome) observable in eukaryotes as...

Conjugated vaccines

Hi,

I don't understand this concept very well, how can we link a weak antigen with a strong antigen to enhance immune response?
I get strong antigen would induce greater immune response, but i don't see how the linkage works.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Biochemistry

Hi, thank you for the explanation. Correct me if I'm wrong, so one of the functions that glycoproteins and sphingolipids have is cell-signaling. Does this mean glycoproteins and sphingolipids can both be cell surface receptors...? If yes, how can sphingolipids act as receptors if there are protein c...

Biochemistry

Hi, I haven't taken biochemistry before so I'm struggling a bit understanding the materials on the review book. Amino Acid - I don't understand how pka and pH could be compared? - Finding the charge of histidine in different pH seems to need knowledge of pKa values in order to solve them. Would they...

Re: Steps of Transcription

Thank you for your help. However, this part i'm not too sure of this explains why DNA primase (a type of RNA polymerase) can lay down an RNA primer without the help of another primer, and this is also why RNA polymerase can initiate transcription without an RNA primer What do you mean without the he...

Steps of Transcription

Hi, I'm currently studying biochemistry part and I am a bit frustrated about steps of transcription. The review book states that for transcription to occur, the DNA helicase should be involved. But, campbell text book I'm using mentions initiation of transcription occurs with RNA polymerase binding ...

Ideal gas vs Real gas

Hi, I have a question about question 10 on chapter 22 from the review book. The question asks, "compared to an ideal gas, a real gas would have..." The answer here says b, which is smaller volume than predicted at lower temperatures and high pressure. Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as ...
